We often get asked by customers how much CBD Oil they should be dosing and how to best consume it.
These are good questions and in this blog post we will give some general but useful informartion to answer them.
Giving specific information is not possible because everybody is different and also people take CBD Oil as a food supplement for a wide range of reasons.
Firstly, how much CBD should one use?
The short answer is as little as possible that is effective for your needs. After all, the less CBD you use, the more money you save!
Therefore we recommend the Low and Slow technique. Low refers to the starting dose - this should be 1 or 2 drops, 2 or 3 times a day to begin with.
Slow refers to the rate at which you increase the dose over time, as needed. You may find that this starting dose works for you and therefore you don't feel the need to increase it. Great, this means that your CBD Oil will last a long time!
However, if after a few days or a week you feel that you need to increase it then just go up by another 1 or 2 drops for each dose you take during the day. Then, after a week or so, you can repeat this incremental approach.
We do not advise taking more than 15 drops per dose, and not more than 200mg CBD per day - in any case most people require far less than this.
Secondly, what is the best way to take CBD Oil drops?
The best way to take CBD Oil is to place the drops under your tongue using the dropper cap. Hold the drops there for as long as possible (at least 60 - 90 seconds, but preferably 2-3 minutes) and then swallow.
Why do we say to hold them under the tongue? Because the bioavailability of CBD is fairly poor in the stomach so it's not a very efficient way to get the CBD into your bloodstream.
A far more effective way is to take it sublingually, which means to hold under your tongue because the CBD absorbs more readily through the tissues there.
After holding under the tongue for up to a few minutes, you can swallow to get as much as possible of what CBD is left, absorbed via the stomach.
